Pulsar NS160 2023 – Ride Review
Starting from the heart of the bike the engine, you have two methods to run it, self-start and use a kicker. Which runs at 9000 rpm and generates a peak power of 12.7kW (17.2 HP) and a maximum torque of 14.6Nm @ 7250rpm.
Being an oil and air-cooled engine, its mid-range performance is above average, which makes this bike to cruise easier in highways at around 80kmph and lacks 6th gear on higher rpm even though the engine is capable of putting more power on the gears, but the cruising ability of this gearbox around 25- 30kmph with the maximum gear engaged reminds the KTM Dukes. The maximum speed attained is 115kmph at 9100rpm and the engine redlines there.
When comes to city commuting, its perimeter frame which holds everything in position makes it easy to navigate through dense traffics and doesn’t ask much effort from the rider. Glides through the corners like a pro with the help of this frame and it makes both city and highway rides effortless and fun because it’s doing the work that the rider exactly wants exceptionally.
The short riders have to adjust the handlebar positioning a bit and the same is an advantage to the tall riders to steer under all conditions. And the seat comfort is good under all circumstances. This naked sports motorcycle comes in four colours on offer with all glassy finishes and the design of the motorcycle is the same as the NS200 and much-trying machine in comparison with the power and torque with the same aggressive sport commuting stance and that triggers the eagerness to get on it to rev.
Looks appealing and the paint scheme of this motorcycle is the best in the segment with a reasonable price staring from INR 1,36,864/-* (Ex-showroom). The meter console has newly added features like distance to empty indicator and gear position indicator with the same signature NS look and the headlamp design is quite appealing to this motorcycle, The halogen headlamp needs to be brighter, and the indicators are okay with the same but the tail light is the only LED on offer.
The engine’s fuel economy is 42kmpl (avg.) which is considerably good with the 12-litre fuel tank. The mileage differs according to the condition of the rides. On the city it provides 35-38 kmpl and on highways it offers 46kmpl, so in an average of mixed conditions it offers 42kmpl. The braking efficiency of this motorcycle is a bit impressive when compared to its rivals like Apache RTR and Xtreme 160, even though the initial bite is low. This Dual channel ABS braking system is more than excepted at this price range and does the job very well. The suspensions perform well on the mid-range rpms and transfer almost shocks to the rider at 30- 40kmph by the USD forks on the front and Nitrox mono shock absorber with canister on the rear.
The tyres of this motorcycle offer enough grips and stick to the roads and almost no slip with the help of ABS under slippery conditions. The tyres are 100/80-17 52P on the front and 130/70-17 62P on the rear with both tubeless.
In a nutshell, it’s a great deal for this price with the features, styling and power on offer which will satisfy the targeted group of people. This will be the best choice who would expect decent mileage and good performance with more styling with less maintenance.
